Good media is critical for strengthening the fan base of sports teams. We had a dozen of our friends over yesterday to see the Louisville Cardinals beat the UCLA Bruins in soccer by a score of 5-4 in the NCAA quarterfinals for the 2010 D1 college cup. Most of these folks had never seen the Cardinals play, and some had not seen a soccer game. They were treated to a great game with the Cards overcoming a two goal deficit.
While the good food and good friends might have led them here in the first place, I can assure that the action packed game with streaming media and excellent narration by Sean Moth has created a few extra fans here in Portland Oregon. This could lead to a viral fan base that will help keep Louisville on the radar screen for top soccer talent from the West coast.
If there would have been no audio, then this would not have been as satisfying to our guests. I was getting ready to break out the play by play, as this is the first streaming video from Louisville with audio, but was thrilled to find that this was not needed.
I am very pleased to see that the Cardinal multi-media experience has stepped up their game in synchrony with the Louisville soccer team in their quest for national excellence.
